Accused broom killer denies murder

An elderly woman accused of battering her partly-paralysed husband to death with a broom handle because she ‘couldn’t bear any more’ has denied murder. Packiam Ramanathan, 73, is said to have killed her 76-year-old spouse Kanagusabi Ramanathan at the home they shared in Burges Road, East Ham, east London, on Friday 21 September.
