Baggage handlers ‘helped smuggled cocaine through Heathrow’

  Two corrupt baggage handlers helped smuggle £10million worth of cocaine into the UK through Heathrow Airport, a court heard. Gurmit Singh, 55, and Mohammad Ali, 41, allegedly switched cases packed with drugs flown from Brazil from the international arrivals carousel onto the domestic arrivals carousel to avoid security checks. Michael Sutherland, 48, and his assistant Leoina Townsend-Bartley, 32, helped arrange domestic flights for couriers arriving at the airport to collect the cases as they landed.
