Couple accused of FGM claim girl fell ‘trying to get a biscuit’

A Ghanaian man and a Ugandan woman accused of female genital mutilation on a three-year-old girl claimed she fell off a cupboard trying to get a biscuit, a court heard. The 43-year-old man and 36-year-old woman from East London are also accused of failing to protect a girl from risk of genital mutilation on August 28 last year.
