 KAUR: MERCURY POISONING NURSE WAS FACING SACKBEDFORD
A dental nurse accused of poisoning her boss with mercury was given a final warning for 'flatly refusing to work with colleagues' just days before the incident, a court heard today (tues).
Ravinder Kaur, 34, would also leave patients in the treatment chair when she took her full lunch break, it is claimed.
The nurse laced practice manager Laura Knowles' coffee with the liquid metal used to make tooth fillings, it is said.
Ms Knowles was treated in hospital for stomach cramps that felt like 'labour pains' after swallowing bits of the poisonous metal.

 BOATENG: 15 YEAR OLD BUS MURDER SUSPECT REMANDED IN CUSTODYHIGHBURY, HACKNEY, NORTH LONDON; ROMFORD, ESSEX
A 15 year-old boy accused of stabbing a schoolboy to death on a bus on the victim's 16th birthday was remanded in custody at the Old Bailey today (TUES).
The teenager, who cannot be named, is charged with the murder of Derek Boateng in Highbury, north London, last week.
Derek was on his way home to Hackney when he was attacked on the back of a single decker 393 bus at around 3.10pm on 23 April.
He was taken by helicopter to hospital from the scene at the junction of Highbury New Park and Holmcote Gardens but died the next day.

 MILNER:NURSE LOST JOB AFTER SHE VENDING MACHINE GAVE HER FREE POPBLACKPOOL, PRESTON, LANCS
A nurse was sacked after she paid a pound into a vending machine only for it to start spitting out free cans of pop.
Melanie Milner was captured on CCTV helping herself to 27 tins while working in Blackpool as a mental health nurse for the Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust.
Milner kept 16 of them and gave the rest to her colleagues but her employers reported her to police for theft and she was dismissed for gross misconduct in January last year.
She got her job back after appealing her sacking and was handed a written warning to appear on her file for two years.

 TOWERTON:NURSE WHO CALLED LOVE STRUCK PATIENT 155 TIMES KEEPS JOBWINCHESTER, HANTS
A mental health nurse who called a lovestruck patient 155 times and sent him text messages has been allowed to continue in the profession.
Judith Towerton also visited the man, referred to as patient A, at his home and a friend's house after being told not to by bosses at Connaught House in Winchester, Hants.
The patient, who suffered from severe psychiatric difficulties and suicidal tendencies, developed feelings towards Towerton while under her care.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council found Towerton guilty of misconduct, but ruled she can continue in the profession without restrictions.

Six Muslim terrorists who plotted to detonate homemade bombs at an English Defence League rally to mark Armed Forces Day are facing jail today (Tues).
Omar Khan, 31, and Jewel Uddin, 27, had loaded a car with a boot full of weapons and explosives as they headed to the far-right demonstration in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.
They were armed with sawn-off shotguns, newly-sharpened swords, and fireworks converted into nail bombs, with Anzal Hussain, 24, Mohammed Saud, 22, and Zohaib Ahmed, 22, following behind in convoy.
But Khan and Uddin's silver Renault Laguna was stopped during a routine check on the M1 near Sheffield.

Hundreds of wealthy and well-known subscribers rushed to try and effectively wipe out their tax liabilities on £213m of income by investing in four Channel Islands Stock Exchange (CISX) listed companies linked to Perrin.

A GP who groped a sixth-form student's breasts during an intimate examination could face being kicked out of the profession.
Dr Rajith Ramachandran did 'what he wanted' with the 19-year-old while working at the Glen Medical Practice in Hebburn, Tyne and Wear.
The surgery partner also slipped his hand inside the teen's underwear during consultations between November 2011 and January 2012.
He denied any wrongdoing and insisted all examinations of 'Patient A' were necessary and professional - despite claiming he could not even remember carrying them out.

 SILVA:CONVICT RAPED WOMAN HOURS AFTER RELEASE FROM JAILACTON, WEST LONDON
A convicted criminal raped a woman within hours of being released from prison, the Old Bailey heard.
Emmanuel De Silva, 49, allegedly attacked the victim in her bedroom after drunkenly turning up at her home.
The next morning he attacked her again when she confronted him about the alleged rape, the court heard.
Prosecutor Charles Royle told the jury that De Silva had been sent to prison for 'a completely dissimilar offence'.

SMITH:STUDENT TRIED TO SWINDLE £10,000 FROM POLICE FUNDSSIDCUP, KENT
A student tried to swindle almost £10,000 from police funds using a forged cheque, a court heard.
Maxwell Smith, 30, allegedly paid in the cheque purporting to have been issued by the Metropolitan Police Authority, now known as the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime.
But the two signatories on the cheque insisted they had never signed it, Southwark Crown Court heard.
Maxwell was captured on CCTV depositing the cheque at a branch of NatWest near Victoria Station at around 1pm on June 10, 2011, it was said.

SMYTH: HOSPITAL MANAGER THREATENED TO HAVE PATIENT 'GHOSTED'WIDNES, CHESHIRE
An abusive hospital manager threatened to have a patient 'ghosted' and described him as a 'sex pest', a misconduct hearing was told today (MON).
David Smyth also kicked the mentally ill man's mattress to wake him up at the Priory Hospital in Widnes, Cheshire, it is claimed.
Smyth is accused of behaving inappropriately in front of staff and patients while working as Clinical Services Manager between May 3 and August 29 in 2011.
The hospital had been undergoing a revamp of staff and Smyth was brought in alongside Linda Smith to oversee changes at the under-performing hospital.

A Celebrity Big Brother star who has danced alongside Kylie Minogue throttled his girlfriend and punched her in the face, a court heard today (Mon).
Andrew Stone, 40, allegedly snapped after 25-year-old Claudia Cersosimo told him she did not want to chat about music he was playing as she lay in bed at his central London pad.
Stone entered the Big Brother house in January last year, competing alongside celebrities including film star Michael Madsen and EastEnder Natalie Cassidy.
The former West End dancer, who claims Ms Cersosimo's injuries, including a black eye and red marks on her neck, were self-inflicted, shot to fame in 2010 on hit Sky reality TV show Pineapple Dance Studios.
