 PERCY:TEENAGE THUGS SPARED JAIL OVER JAW BREAK ROWROCHDALE, GREATER MANCHESTER
Two teenage thugs were spared jail today (thurs) for an assault that sparked a mob attack leaving a man with a broken jaw.
Delcio Santiago, 19, and pal William Percy, 18, were each handed a 12 month conditional discharge after the prosecution could provide no evidence that their part in the attack caused serious injury to the victim.
Ben Nuttall had been out partying at the Littleborough rowing club, in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, in February last year when he was blocked from leaving the toilets by rugby player Percy.
When he left the club for a cigarette he was struck in the face by Percy before Portuguese-born Santiago joined in, Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court heard.

 IQBAL:CARE HOME CHIEF ALERTED POLICE TO CHILD SEX RINGILFORD, ROMFORD, DAGENHAM, ESSEX
A care home chief alerted police after discovering that vulnerable girls were being forced into prostitution by a gang of Asian men, a court heard.
The executive, who cannot be named for legal reasons, interviewed one of the alleged victims after she was moved from the east London home where the alleged sex ring was operating.
The manager of a home in Essex told jurors many children in care are starved of love and believe they can find affection through sexual contact.
He said: 'They will cling on to anyone who gives them affection.

A paramedic who cut off a tuft of pubic hair and sprinkled it over a colleague's cake at the staff Christmas bash faces being struck off.
Kevin Hamlyn caused mayhem at the party at the Marriott Hotel, Peterborough, which had been organised by his girlfriend.
Hamlyn thrust his groin towards women guests as if he was having sex with them, the Health and Care Professions Council heard.
He then threw a potato across the function room and rubbed a balloon between his legs and pretended it was a large penis in front of GPs.

A grinning armed robber who posed for photographs clutching wads of bank notes had the smile wiped off his face when he was locked away for nine years.
Joseph Makungu, 25, cannot conceal his joy as he clasps thousands of pounds grabbed during a series of raids last year.
Makungu and Ashley Dobbs, 26, attacked a security van driver outsode a post office in Rose Lane, Mark Gate, Romford, Essex, last October 17.
The pair both fled to a getaway car, a silver Audi, driven by Daniel Green, 33 and later abandoned in Weston Road.

Two celebrity agents linked to Ashley Cole and rapper Jay-Z were today (thurs) cleared of masterminding a revenge attack that left an innocent teenager dead.
Chris Nathaniel, 41, and Paul Boadi, 35, boasted of scores of high-profile clients including Rio Ferdinand, John Terry and Usain Bolt.
Nathaniel, who set up the NVA Entertainment Group in 2005, had even helped to launch an anti-knife crime campaign with former prime ministers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.
But their careers were put on hold when they were arrested in connection with the murder Danny O'Shea, 18, in Custom House, east London.

COLLINS: FINANCE WORKER ADMITS TRAVEL TICKET SCAMCITY OF LONDON; HOLLAND PARK, WEST LONDON
A finance worker at a top business travel agency who used stolen credit card details for a £14,000 airline ticket fraud is facing jail today (Thurs).
Coral Collins, 25, used the information to buy trips to Ecuador for an associate known only as 'Half Price'.
She was working as a credit controller for Reed and Mackay Business Travel, based in Farringdon Street in the City of London.
The scam involved multiple transactions between July 26 and August 14 last year.

A nursing assistant accused of abusing dementia patients claimed today (Thurs) she treated everyone in her care like her 108-year-old father.
Akosua Sakyiwaa, 38, allegedly held a bed sheet over 87-year-old Joan Massett's face and told them they were dead.
She is also said to have prodded the elderly patient while boasting: 'I'm young and my breasts are better than yours.'
But giving evidence at Snaresbrook Crown Court, she denied any wrongdoing.

A woman denied trying to stage a £50,000 travel insurance scam when she appeared at the Old Bailey today (Thurs).
Anita Debnath, 44, is said to have made claims to multiple insurers for property said to have been stolen in a robbery.
She applied for compensation from nine different firms but it is alleged she had already recovered the cash from another insurer.
Debnath is also accused of failing to disclose previous criminal convictions when applying for an insurance policy.

A convicted armed robber was jailed with his mother today (thurs) after they were caught using a cryptic dialect to smuggle drugs and mobile phones into prison.
Glen Lawrence, 23, chatted with mum Carolyn Dylan, 46, and sister Nikki Nash, 30, in a language used by Irish travellers called 'Shelta', while trafficking contraband into prison.
Lawrence, a serial criminal who is currently doing a six-year stretch for robbery and burglary, Dylan and Nash planned to buy a fleet of caravan trailers with their ill-gotten gains.
But they were caught out by a police officer who understood the dialect, Southwark Crown Court heard.

A man accused of murdering an alleged drug-dealer today claimed he acted in self-defence after he was attacked by surprise,, the Old Bailey heard.
Jason Lodge, 39, was enlisted by Cherri Gilmartin, 37, the mother of his eight children, to track down and kill David Petch, it is alleged.
Gilmartin believed Petch, a father-of-nine, had got her sister Laura Field hooked on cocaine and was using her flat as a drug den, the Old Bailey was told.

 AZAM:JAIL FOR TRAVEL AGENT WHO LEFT FAMILIES STRANDED AT HEATHROWBARKING, ESSEX
A crooked travel agent who left families stranded at Heathrow after selling them bogus tickets was jailed for 16 months.
Safdar Azam, 52, built up a reputation in his community as a 'go-to man' for cheap flights but started scamming customers when he ran into financial difficulty.
Dozens of unwitting families and travellers paid thousands of pounds for the worthless tickets home only to find themselves stranded once they arrived at the airport.
One of Azam's victims was admitted to hospital after suffering from shock and depression, while others missed weddings or lost money they had saved for months.
