SOHRAB:BUPA NURSE FAILED TO TELL FAMILY ABOUT DEMENTIA PATIENT'S FALL

BLACKBURN, LANCS A nurse who forgot to tell a dementia patient's family about an injury she sustained during a fall at a BUPA home has been handed a two year caution order. Nazia Sohrab was aware of a large purple bruise on the back of the elderly woman's head and then failed to do anything about it, the Nursing and Midwifery Council found. Sohrab was working on the Dementia Unit at the Old Gates Care Home, Blackburn, Lancashire, when she was informed of the patient's fall in May 2011. A care assistant told Sohrab about the bruise but she did not tell the patient's family about the incident.

BEVERIDGE: 'IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT', VET TELLS OWNER OF DEAD CAT

WIRRAL A 'patronising' vet told a distraught animal lover if she had been a better owner her cat would not have died, a tribunal heard today (Mon). Ian Beveridge initially told Lisa Simpson her beloved pet 'Blu' was very sick when she had passed away, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons heard. When Ms Simpson turned up at Beveridge's Merseyside practice the vet allegedly said it was her 'all her fault' that 'Blu' was dead. Beveridge is also accused of failing to deal with a dog named Holly as an emergency patient and then not treating her owners with 'courtesy and respect'.

BARTHA: ROMANIAN DOCTOR CAUGHT DRINK-DRIVING ON WAY HOME

WOLVERHAMPTON A Romanian doctor was caught more than three times over the legal drink driving limit just half an hour after she finished work, a hearing was told today (Mon). Dr Ileana Bartha was stopped by police less than eight miles away from the New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, after an officer spotted the front wheel 'hanging off' her car. Sergeant Mark Roger, of the Staffordshire Police, stopped the medic's vehicle and spotted two empty vodka bottles and an almost empty bottle of brandy in the passenger side footwell.

BIDACE: COUPLE SHOT IN 'CLINICAL COLD-BLOODED EXECUTION'

WEST EALING; WEST BROMPTON; HAYES A gunman executed a father and tried to murder his disabled partner to stop her identifying the killer, a court heard today (MON). Daniel Bidace-Anthony, 30, forced 32 year-old Dothan Gordon to kneel in his own living room before blasting him in the head, it is claimed. He then went upstairs to kill Mr Gordon's partner Amy Ashitey, a wheelchair-bound double amputee, but was thwarted when his gun jammed on the third shot, jurors heard. Amy, 28, survived a bullet wound to the shoulder and was able to tell police she recognised the gunman as a man called 'Indian'.

GRAHAM:FUGITIVE SEX TOURIST JAILED FOR ABUSING ORPHAN IN CAMBODIA

BOURNEMOUTH, DORSET A sex tourist who spent six years on the run after being caught abusing an orphan in Cambodia was jailed for 21 months today (MON). David Graham, 47, was first arrested after charity workers spotted him groping the 14 year-old boy in Pnomh Penh during a holiday in April 2006. The child, who was living on the streets, later revealed he had been paid 6000 Riel - or just under £1. Graham, from Bournemouth, Dorset, was arrested on his return to the UK but failed to answer bail four months later and started a new life running a fish and chip shop in France.

AKHTAR:NURSE WHEELED STROKE VICTIM OUT OF HOME IN NIGHT DRESS

BURNLEY, LANCS A nurse wheeled a stroke victim out of a home in just her nightdress as punishment for not taking her medication, a hearing was told today. (Mon) Bilquees Akhtar also scolded the woman after she fell out her wheelchair and failed to adequately check her for injuries at the Grove Care Home in Burnley, Lancs, it was claimed. After the fall Akhtar allegedly told her: 'You have done this to yourself, you have put yourself on the floor, you can do more than you are letting on.' Healthcare assistant Christian Bateman told the Nursing and Midwifery Council how 'Resident D' was left outside by Akhtar in just her pyjamas and slippers after she refused to take her medication.

BAMGBELU:JUDGE FREES FRAUD NURSE AND PRAISES HER FIRST CLASS CARE

ILFORD, ROMFORD, DAGENHAM, ESSEX A Nigerian nurse who used forged documents to work illegally for seven years was spared jail by a judge who praised her 'first-class' care. Toyin Bamgbelu, 46, also used a bogus driving licence to claim taxpayers' cash while studying at London's South Bank University. After falsely claiming to be Dutch national Johanna Schiessl she was paid a £13,180 bursary, and received child care payments of £26,400 for her two-year-old son. Bamgbelu then began working for NHS Professionals in 2004, providing a forged passport, also in the name of Ms Schiessl, to persuade bosses she had a right to work in the UK.

HOOD:AFFRAY DOCTOR GUILTY OF DISHONEST CONDUCT

CHESTER; ELLESMERE PORT A doctor convicted of affray and slapped with a restraining order has been found guilty of 'dishonest conduct' for entering into a contract when he was bankrupt. Dr John Stephen Hood was sentenced to eight months imprisonment, suspended for two years, at Chester Crown Court in 2010. He admitted threatening unlawful violence towards Dr Wanda Hargreaves after he entered her Willington Road property in Tarporley, Chester, in August 2010. He was made subject to a five-year restraining order to prevent him from going within 50 yards of 'Ms A's' address or contacting her two children without her consent.

FAIRBAIRN:MOTHER OF TWO DIED AFTER CHOKING ON FOOD IN FRANCE

WIMBLEDON, SOUTH LONDON A mother of two died after choking on a piece of meat while on holiday in Northern France, an inquest found. Jane Fairbairn, 62, was eating dinner with her lawyer husband in their holiday home near Calais when she fell from her chair and suffered a heart attack, Westminster Coroner's Court found. Mrs Fairbairn and her husband, Richard, had gone out to France on November 16 last year to do some early Christmas shopping. Mr Fairbairn cooked the couple dinner the following day after a shopping trip and his wife collapsed in her chair as they ate.

ATKINSON:BAN FOR PHYSIOTHERAPIST WHO TOUCHED PATIENT'S BREASTS

ST AUSTELL, CORNWALL A physiotherapist who touched a patient's breasts while treating her for whiplash has been struck off. Guy Atkinson smeared oil over the patient after telling her he needed to 'do something and it might appear I'm touching your breasts'. The physiotherapist also jiggled the woman's back so her undone bra came off during the 'treatment' - opposite a glass picture frame that showed a reflection of her front. The woman, a council worker referred to only as Patient A, told the Health Professions Council she was left feeling 'uncomfortable' and 'shocked' after the incident which led her to report Atkinson to the police.

WAHEED:GANG GRABBED £100,000 IN SERIES OF SECURITY VAN RAIDS

UPTON, PARK, PLAISTOW, EAST LONDON; ROMFORD, ILFORD, ESSEX; SYDENHAM, CROYDON, SOUTH LONDON; BIGGIN HILL, KENT A gang who swiped nearly £100,000 in a series of violent cash-in-transit robberies have been jailed for more than 40 years. The sophisticated team overpowered drivers in a series of meticulously planned raids before speeding off with the loot. They carried out five raids across the capital during a 15-month reign of terror before they were finally snared outside an east London supermarket. A total of £96,000 was taken from Loomis security vans after the drivers were threatened with axes and told they would be 'torn apart' if they didn't comply.
