Pensioner conned by fraudsters posing as police officers


  A pensioner was conned out of £90,000 by ‘clever and ruthless’ fraudsters who posed as police officers and bank officials to loot his bank account. Michael Garrett, 70, received a string of phone calls to persuade him someone had stolen his identity and he needed to transfer funds to ‘safe’ bank accounts under police control.
