A youth worker was caught peddling drugs to an undercover police officer outside the entrance to a hospital, a court heard.
Muhammed Uddin, 27, was arrested moments after spitting two wraps of heroin and crack cocaine into the hands of the female officer.
Southwark Crown Court heard how the pnds stlg 25 deal happened outside the entrance to the Royal London College Hospital in Whitechaple in April.
The defendant was in a car with two associated when the drugs changed hands.
But he denies any knowledge of the narcotics.
Mr Angus Bunyon, prosecuting, said police were involved in a covert operation in the Whitechapel area targeting street dealers.
He said the cops posed as buyers to organise a series of transactions.
‘It is a simple and effective method of catching those who push the drugs in the street.
‘
Jurors heard an officer calling herself Terry set up the deal through a woman on April 9.
Within minutes of Terry arriving at the hospital entrance, a blue Renault Laguna flashed its lights.
Mr Bunyon said: ‘She approached the car.
The car flashed again.
‘She went up to the front passenger side and sitting in the front passenger side was Mr Uddin.
He accepts he was a passenger.
‘
The court heard how the plain-clothed officer spoke to the defendant asking where the woman she arranged to meet was.
She was told, the jury heard, that she had gone to, ‘get something to eat’.
Mr Bunyon continued: ‘The prosecution say Mr Uddin knew the woman and what was to take place.
‘The officer handed Mr Uddin pnds stlg 25 cash.
He took the money from her.
‘She saw him, she thinks take at least one wrap out of his mouth and handed it to her through the open window.
‘
The jurors heard how in return for the money she was handed two small plastic bags containing powder substance.
It was later revealed on examination of the bags that one contained 240 milligrammes of crack cocaine and the other 131 milligrammes of heroin.
Within minutes the car was surrounded by nearby officers who had recorded the transaction.
Jurors heard how the driver of the car was found with a number of wraps of crack cocaine and heroin.
During interview he denied having met the woman.
But when it was revealed she was a police officer, he admitted handling money but said he had nothing to do with the drugs.
A further examination of the drugs packages also revealed his DNA.
Uddin, of Wilkstead House, County Street, Southwark, southeast London denies two counts of supplying class A drugs to another.
