Glassing hairdresser attacked lag in Holloway
A former hairdresser who blasted a judge after being jailed for 12 years for glassing an unconscious man has been hauled back to court accused of attacking a fellow prisoner.
Neah Tuohy, 24, screamed ‘the system is f**ked’ as she was led from the dock to begin a 12-year sentence after the fight in Gants Hill, Essex, last St Patrick’s Day.
The former hairdresser became embroiled in a street row with a man before the two tumbled to the ground, knocking him out cold.
Tuohy still had her drink from earlier in the night and thrust it twice into the helpless man’s face leaving permanent scars by his left eyebrow and just below his chin.
While awaiting trial for that offence, she is alleged to have joined fellow inmate, Emily Bray, 22, in attacking another prisoner at HMP Holloway.
The victim, Marie Raison, had been in the jail’s association room completing a puzzle when the pair are said to have pounced on her, raining down a number of blows.
She was so traumatised by the assault she suffered a panic attack and fainted as nurses and staff tended to her.
Tuohy appeared in custody at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court sat behind Bray in the secure dock where she denied a single count of assault by beating.
Bray admitted the same offence.
Prosecutor Kirsten Marenah said: ‘The complainant is serving a custodial sentence at HMP Holloway as were the defendants at the time.
‘On 27 January the complainant was in the association room waiting to be assigned a job in the prison garden.
‘The complainant was sitting on a sofa doing a puzzle.
‘The defendants approached her, standing directly in front of her, and began to assault her, punching her repeatedly in the face.’
Ms Marenah told the court that Ms Raison was unable to defend herself from the onslaught which only ended as staff and nurses intervened.
‘The complainant had a panic attack and fainted while receiving treatment,’ the prosecutor added.
Bray admitted her part in the attack but Tuohy denied being present at the time.
Chairing the bench, Councillor Toby Simon told Tuohy: ‘We have arranged your trial.
‘It is on 8 September and you will be produced on that day for your arranged trial.
Tuohy, whose address is recorded as HMP Bronzefield, Woodthorpe Road, Middlesex, was remanded in custody ahead of trial at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on 8 September.
Bray, of (194) Blundell Road, Edgware, Middlesex, admitted one count of assault by beating and was bailed pending reports to attend the same court for sentence on 20 July.
