A ‘disturbed and dangerous’ 15-year-old raped an eight-year-old
girl just weeks after being placed on supervision for an earlier
rape.

The boy, now 16, who cannot be named for legal reasons, gave
his latest victim gonorrhoea when he raped her twice in London
in April last year.

Judge Bruce Laughland QC was told that before the boy turned to
rape, he amassed convictions for robbery, violence, burglary and
joy-riding while living in the St Annes region of Nottingham.

Sentencing him to three years detention, the judge said he hoped
the stability would help him sort out his life.

The court was told the youth’s first rape victim was an 11-year-old
girl he met while in care in Leicester.

He admitted that offence in court there in February last year and
was given a supervision order.

Two months later, he was living with his father in East Dulwich,
south London, when he raped the eight-year-old twice.

At the Old Bailey earlier this month, he admitted two charges of
rape.

Sentence was adjourned until today Tuesday while he was assessed
for suitability for a further supervision order.

But just five days before today’s hearing, he and two other youths
escaped from the centre.

Mr James Sturman, defending, said his client had been sexually
abused when he was younger.

‘The abuse that he suffered must have had some bearing on what he
did.

‘
He handed to the judge a letter his client had written.

In it, the
youth said: ‘I didn’t want my life to turn out this way.

‘
Judge Laughland told him: ‘You have become very disturbed,
disruptive and unruly.

And now, at 16, you are a dangerous young man.

‘All sorts of methods have been tried to restrain you to give you a
spell in a disciplined environment.

‘Sadly, they have all failed.

‘I think you deserve the sentence I am going to pass.

‘The stability it will furnish will assist you in growing to
maturity.

‘
He did not react as he was sentenced to three years
detention in a secure institution.
