QUINCEY: SATAN MURDER APPEAL FAILS

A crazed killer who claimed he was “possessed by Satan” when he slit the throat of a young man in a frenzy of violence has failed to convince top judges he was wrongly convicted of murder.

Karl Anthony Quincey, of Longcroft Avenue, Devizes, was jailed for life in November last year at Winchester Crown Court after a jury found him guilty of murdering 28-year-old Barry Cooper.

Quincey, who has a history of violence and mental health problems, butchered Mr Cooper in the hallway of a Devizes block of flats in June 2008.

Appeal Court judge, Mr Justice MacDuff, today described it as a “horrendous and frenzied attack”.

Quincey, who denied he was the killer at trial, slaughtered Mr Cooper by pulling back his head and slicing his neck, resulting in fatal injuries from which he later died in hospital
