Couple jailed over ‘house of horrors’

A couple who crammed seven children and 35 dogs in a filthy three-bedroom house have each been jailed for six years. Christopher Bennett, 35, and Gemma Brogan, 41, ill-treated the children and animals in the property in Eastbourne, Sussex. Police officers were called to the house after reports of a domestic incident there on 14 June last year – and were appalled at the conditions inside.
