The Ministry of Defence (MoD) will avoid paying out millions of pounds in compensation to Iraqi civilians after winning a landmark case at the Supreme Court. More than 600 Iraqis have brought complaints of unlawful detention and physical maltreatment by British troops during the 2003-2009 occupation of Iraq to the High Court.
