Former footie star denies huge fraud

A former Premier League player today denied carrying out a £5.3m investment fraud. Ex Charlton Athletic defender, Richard Rufus, 44, is accused of enticing investors into a massive foreign currency scam. Prosecutors claim money was not invested and was spent on ‘personal expenses and lifestyle.’ Rufus appeared at Southwark Crown Court unrepresented, in a black suit and black tie.
