Jail for lockdown burglar

A career burglar who was caught breaking into a cafe during the coronavirus lockdown has been jailed for 22 weeks. Keith Smyth, 44, smashed through a door and pilfered groceries from the Breakout Cafe, directly opposite HMP Pentonville in Caledonian Road, north London. He worked with an accomplice to help himself to £100 worth of goods from the eatery at around midnight on 3 April. Members of the public reported sounds of ‘crunching glass’ to the police and officers arrived…
