Joey Barton will stand trial for assaulting his wife in November

Former footballer Joey Barton will face trial in November for allegedly attacking his wife two days before their anniversary. The former Man City midfielder, 41, was accused of leaving Georgia Barton, 36, with a ‘golf ball’ sized-lump on her head after drinking four bottles of wine on 2 June 2021.
