MP ‘fixed election expenses’

A Tory MP appeared in court today to deny charges over his 2015 general election expenses. Craig Mackinlay, 50, and his team allegedly failed to declare expenses during the party’s 2015 campaign to win the seat when he beat then Ukip leader Nigel Farage. Mackinlay secured a majority of just over 2,800 in South Thanet, Kent, beating Farage, following a tense campaign with 38% of the vote.
