The victim of a vicious gang fight was seen running down the street with ‘blood spurting from his neck’ the Old Bailey heard today.

Southgate College student Abdul Osman, 18 had allegedly been stabbed by another student, Bodrul Miah.

Witness Mr Stuart Watson was walking towards a bakery shop Greggs when he saw a group of youths disperse from an alleyway.

He said: ‘I looked across the road to a black youth who was coughing up blood and holding his neck with both hands.

‘He was stood near the beer garden of the Rising Sun pub.

This youth then began to jog towards the police station.

‘He removed his black leather jacket and dropped it to the floor.

I saw blood spurting from his neck, stopping as he jogged to become sick.

‘He climbed the steps to the police station and just slumped.

‘I went into Greggs, which is opposite the station, but realised I had lost my appetite and came out again.

‘About 15 to 20 people had gathered outside the steps.

‘Also stood on the steps was a youth I had seen jogging behind the first wearing an orange fleece jumper.

He walked to the jacket, picked it up and went back into the crowd.

I walked back to work.

‘

Another witness had to be arrested and brought to the court on a warrant to give evidence.

Ozkan Gun enrolled at Southgate College at the same time as the youths involved in the fight outside the tube station on September 13, 1999.

He told the jury he left with three friends to go to McDonalds and on his return down an alleyway between Chaseside and Crown Lane saw a group fighting.

‘A short Asian one was fighting against a Somalian.

They were both throwing punches at each other,’ Mr Gun said.

‘The Asian threw three punches, two in the chest and one in the face or the neck.

The Somalian started running towards us and he coughed out a lot of blood.

‘We moved out of the way to let him pass.

We saw another Somalian youth getting chased by the short Asian and two dark-skinned youths with baseball caps and hoods over them.

‘I heard the Asian shout: “Get him.

” I thought he was holding something in his right hand.

He stopped running after him and put something in his jacket.

I went back down the alleyway.

‘

It is claimed Miah, 20, killed Abdul Osman using a blade handed to him in a Snickers wrapper by Ryan Reid, 19.
