A married couple and their alleged co-conspirator

A married couple and their alleged co-conspirator appeared at the Old Bailey today (Thurs) accused of running an illegal immigrant racket.

Guy and Elizabeth Emmett, 34 and 30 respectively, with Christian Jideofo, 40, all pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to defraud the Secretary of State, and facilitating the entry of illegal immigrants into the UK.

The crimes were said to have taken place in 1996.

Mr and Mrs Emmett were released on bail and allowed to return to their home at (22) Furze Lane, Purley, after gaining sureties from parents totalling pnds stlg 150,000.

Jideofo, of (14) Kingston Road, New Barnet, Herts, was remanded in custody.

The trio’s trial is due to begin on May 31.
