CAPRE: RETRIAL FOR NOSE SLICE ACCUSED
An alleged knifeman accused of slicing off his roommate’s nose after an argument over their shared space is facing a retrial today (Thurs).
Marc Capre, 34, is said to have stabbed David Loffredo eight times in the back after he went across to the defendant’s side of the room to plug in a hairdryer.
Mr Loffredo, 23, left a trail of blood as he frantically tried to run away from Capre, who allegedly followed and continued to knife him in street.
Mr Loffredo was left with the tip of his nose hanging off after the attack in Murchison Road, Leyton, east London, last April 27.
He was rushed to hospital by air ambulance and treated for life threatening injuries including a collapsed lung and slashed artery before finally being discharged nearly three weeks later.
Capre handed himself into a nearby police station but insisted it was Mr Loffredo was began the fight and claimed he was simply trying to defend himself.
A jury at Snaresbrook Crown Court cleared him of attempted murder and wounding with intent after nearly five hours’ deliberation.
But they were unable to reach a verdict on a third charge of unlawful wounding.
A hearing will take place on November 8 to determine whether a retrial will go ahead on the remaining count.
