Knifeman Kulvinder Ram denies attempting to murder two children

A knifeman accused of attempting to murder two young children aged two and eight and the woman who tried to protect them has denied attempted murder.

Kulvinder Ram, 49, slashed the throat of the toddler in the incident in First Avenue, Dagenham, east London, on October 25, it is claimed.

All three victims were treated in hospital for their stab wounds but fortunately none of them were life threatening.

Bearded Ram appeared at the Old Bailey today (fri) via video link from a secure hospital wearing a green t-shirt.

He was assisted by a Punjabi interpreter.

He denied three counts of attempted murder and three alternative charges of wounding with intent.

Ram was due to stand trial next week but it will now begin on 13 April 2026.

Earlier prosecutor Jeannel Evelyn Ambrose said the attack had involved ‘slashing the throat’ of the two-year-old boy.

The girl suffered a cut from the corner of her mouth to the corner of her ear.

The woman sustained injuries in an attempt to protect the two children from Ram, the court heard.

Ram, of Dagenham, will next appear for a further case management hearing on 5 September.
