A young dad who tried to escape from court while awaiting trial on firearms charges was spared a jail sentence at the Old Bailey today.

Dwayne Williams, 21, made his bid for freedom with fellow prisoner after overpowering a security guard in the cells at Haringey Magistrates Court.
His escape bid came as he was held in the cells at the magistrates court for a hearing on November 13 last year.
Williams asked Stuart Sharp, a Securicor guard, if he could go to the toilet, said prosecutor Michael Goodwin.
After being escorted back to his cells, he then called Mr Sharp moments later with the same request.
As the guard opened the door Williams pushed him over, the court heard.
Mr Sharp was put in a armlock while the defendant and another prisoner grabbed his keys.
During the scuffle Mr Sharp was assaulted and received cuts to his face and neck.
The men then ran out of the jail area and dashed up the cell stairs to try and find a way out of the court building.
But the was raised and the two prisoners were soon overpowered by other security personnel, said Mr Goodwin.
Williams admitted common assault and attempted escape.
He also pleaded guilty to possessing 4.
8 grams of heroin – which was found near his Fiat Uno that police stopped in Hampden Road, Tottenham on November 2.
The court heard that Williams has a string of previous convictions for drug offences.
In April last year he received a two month term for possession of class A drugs.
Judge Graham Boal, QC, told Williams he was going to give him another chance after learning he has spent nine months in custody.
‘The future is in your own hands and nobody else’s.
Only you can chose between a life of crime which will mean repeated and ever increasing sentences or a productive life where you will make the most of your talents,’ the judge said.
‘I going to take a chance which I hope is a chance taken in the interests of the public.
‘
Willliams, of Sturrock Close, Tottenham, looked relieved as Judge Boal imposed a one year community rehabilitation order.
But the judge warned him: ‘If you come back here your feet will not touch the ground.
You will be down those stairs for a very long time.
‘
The father-of-two was also charged with possessing a revolver after the police stopped his car.
But Williams denied any knowledge of the gun and cleared of that offence during a trial at the Old Bailey last month.
