Accused killer remanded over murder of missing woman

An alleged killer appeared in court today (tues) charged with murdering a woman who disappeared a month ago. Maureen Gitau, 24, was reported missing by her family on 10 December after she was last seen as she left her home in Evelyn Street, Deptford, southeast London, five days earlier. As concerns grew for her wellbeing, detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command took responsibility of the investigation. Ms Gitau’s body has not been found.
