Elderly woman cleared of murdering ‘abusive’ husband

An elderly woman who clubbed her partly-paralysed husband to death after claiming he abused her for decades was cleared of murder in just 30 minutes. Packiam Ramanathan, 73, killed her 76-year-old spouse Kanagusabi Ramanathan at the home they shared in Burges Road, East Ham, east London, on 21 September.
