Footballer guilty of hurling ‘vile’ slurs at bisexual player
A footballer who hurled homophobic abuse at an opponent during an FA Cup preliminary round clash has been convicted of a hate crime. Tower Hamlets FC player Ayokunle Odedoyin, 32, targeted Sheppey United’s midfielder Jahmal Howlett-Mundle with ‘vile’ slurs during the game last 7 August. Mr Howlett-Mundle, 25, had publicly come out as bisexual just 10 days before the incident.
