Fraudster ‘does a Jack Shepherd’ and appeals his conviction on the run

A defiant cold call scammer is ‘doing a Shepherd’ by appealing his conviction for a £2.4million fraud while on the run. Sami Raja’s bid comes after speedboat killer Jack Shepherd challenged his manslaughter conviction after fleeing the UK. A judge said the practice “seems to be in vogue” after Shepherd qualified for legal aid despite being in hiding.
