Investors shelled out a fortune to turtle farm fraudsters

Two fugitives wanted for a £17m turtle farm scam in Thailand have appeared in court ahead of their extradition battle. Ploythita Niramitboonyaway, 34, and Thannawat Chookiatsakulkrai, 30, were arrested on a provisional warrant issued by Thailand for committing fraud by false representation. More than 1,100 victims believed they were investing in a high-yield farm project. The scam ran between 1 February 2021 and 31 July 2022, Westminster Magistrates Court has heard.
