A tome raider who swiped a rare first edition worth £2,000 and tried to sell it to a friend of the owner has been spared jail. Colin Lynn, 48, stole a signed 1949 edition of ‘The Sheltering Sky’ by American author Paul Bowles from Peter Harrington’s rare bookshop in Mayfair. Lynn hid the book from Mr Harrington’s shop under his jumper on 12 July this year before having it valued at World’s End book shop in King’s Road, Chelsea. The…
