Marine brought explosives to Devon to ‘hide them from the IRA’
A Royal Marine turned IRA bombmaker claims he brought explosives and detonators from Northern Ireland to England to hide them from the terrorists, a court heard today. Ciaran Maxwell, 31, stored explosives in Devon but denies planning an attack in England, claiming he only built bombs that were used by the Continuity IRA in Northern Ireland because he had no choice.
