Nick £10k from the bank? Happy days!
A Halifax banking advisor who stole more than £10,000 from customers when they asked him to help them withdraw cash was spared jail today.
Shaun Fuller, 20, pocketed £2,000 from one victim by processing a request for £2,500 instead of £500.
He also kept £1,000 for himself when another customer asked to close their account containing £5,086.
In total Fuller defrauded six victims out of £10,500 and attempted to take another £9,000 before being caught.
Police recovered £700 in cash from his home in Greenwich, south London, when it was searched.
The Common Serjeant of London, judge Richard Marks QC, sentenced him to ten months imprisonment suspended for 18 months with 120 hours unpaid work.
Judge Marks said: ‘This was a breach of trust during your employment as a cashier when you diverted monies from some six victims.
‘This was sustained fraud on your part. It is clearly the case that the custody threshhold has been passed.
‘I bear i mind your previous good character. I am on this occasion able to suspend the operation of the sentence of imprisonment.
‘Your are fortunate to have been dealt with in this way. I could very easily have sent you to prison given the seriousness of the offence.’
Fuller, of Boneta Road, Greenwich, southeast London, admitted three counts of fraud by abuse of position and three of acquiring criminal property.
He was ordered to pay back £1,000 in compensation to the bank.
