Police van driver ‘killed elderly pedestrian crossing the road’

A police officer killed an 83-year-old pedestrian crossing the road while responding to a non-emergency call, a court heard today (mon). PC Daniel Bowen, 29, was driving a marked Mercedes Sprinter police van when he struck Peter Dawe as he crossed at traffic lights in East Ham, east London, on 15 July 2020, jurors heard.
