Remanded for killing of Cypriot woman

Two alleged killers accused of murdering a Cypriot woman have been were remanded in custody.

Philip Sherwin, 60, and Deka Omar, 23, are accused of murdering 58-year-old Susan Ioannou, found dead in a home on Church Street, Edmonton, north London.

Police were called to the address at 8:32pm on Monday 21 February following reports that a woman had been found with serious injuries.

Officers attended along with an ambulance crew but Ms Ioannou was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination carried out the next day was unable to determine her cause of death.

Judge Simon Mayo, QC, remanded Omar and Sherwin in custody ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing on 18 May.

Omar, of no fixed address, and Sherwin, of South Eastern Avenue, Edmonton, are both charged with murder.
