Sex ring leader tracked down to farm in Ibiza
One of the leaders of a sex ring targeting teenage girls was jailed for four years after being found working as a farm hand in Ibiza.
Leila Kassam, 32, fled to Spain before she could be sentenced for the sexual abuse of a 15 year-old victim with her lover Paul Silverthorn, 35.
Silverthorn, who also abused a 16 year-old girl, remains on the run and has been sentenced to nine years in his absence.
The pair were leading figures in the ring exploiting young girls during ‘legal high’ parties at a flat in Haymarket, central London.
The victims were befriended by ‘fixer’ Daniel Trinnaman and introduced to members of the group.
Faham Jaffer, 34, known to the group as Ricky, had sex with one girl after Kassam texted a photo with a message, which read: ‘Only got me a cute little 15-year-old.’
Silverthorn gave the 16 year-old girl the legal high ‘5 NEO’ before stifling her screams with a ball gag and tying her to a bed.
He pleaded guilty to having sex with a girl under 16, possessing prohibited images of a child and distributing indecent photographs and was convicted in his absence of administering a substance with the intent to overpower to allow sexual activity.
Silverthorn fled the country before sentencing and is still wanted by police.
Kassam also disappeared after pleaded guilty to having sex with a girl under 16 and arranging the commission of a child sex offence.
She was working on a farm in Ibiza during the summer when the owner contacted police after seeing Crimewatch and Crimestoppers appeals.
The Metropolitan Police applied for a European Arrest Warrant with the help of the National Crime Agency and she was flown back to the UK on 9 December.
Judge Henry Blacksell QC has previously described Kassam as being ‘an enthusiastic party’ to the abuse of the 15 year-old girl.
Trinnaman, of (3) Ventnor Avenue, Stanmore, Harrow, was sentenced to two and a half years after he was convicted of causing a girl of 15 to engage in sexual activity and perverting the course of justice for sending threatening Facebook messages.
Jaffer, of (33A) High Street, Colliers Wood, southwest London, was sentenced to two years imprisonment after he was found guilty of sexual activity with a child.
Silverthorn and Kassam, both of Mornington Road, Leytonstone, east London, were sentenced to nine years and four years respectively in their absence.
Kassam’s four year sentence was confirmed at Blackfriars Crown Court today with an extra six weeks for breaching her bail conditions.
