Throat slitter gets psychiatric tests

A shopkeeper accused of slitting the throats of his two children has been remanded in custody while psychiatric reports are prepared. Pavinya Nithiyakumar, aged 19 months, and her three-year-old brother Nigish Nithiyakumar died after the attack at their home in Aldborough Parade, Ilford, east London on April 26. Pavinya was declared dead at the scene at 5.53pm while Nigish was pronounced dead at 7.42pm at the Royal London Hospital.
