90-year-old who stabbed his wife may be unfit to stand trial

A 90-year-old who stabbed his wife may not be physically fit to stand trial, a court heard today. Edward Turpin is accused of trying to kill 89-year-old Joan Turpin in their Bromley home on 22 September last year. Last November, the pensioner appeared at the Old Bailey to deny attempted murder and an alternative charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The trial is set to begin 22 August.
