A teenager who went to the same school as Premier
A teenager who went to the same school as Premier John Major
left school with no qualifications and made his home in an abandoned
car, a court was told today Monday.
Anthony Reid, 17, who pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting
a 13-year-old girl, lived in a world far removed from that of the
Prime Minister, an Old Bailey a judge was told.
But the one thing they had in common was leaving the same
school – Rutlish High School, Wimbledon – with little or no
academic qualifications.
Reid, who left without any GCSEs, only managed to get himself
a job as a 30 pounds a week supermarket shelf-stacker.
Reid assaulted the ‘immature’ girl in a playground in June
this year when a necking session went too far, the court was told.
Mr Andrew Campbell, prosecuting, said that he kissed her and
touched her breasts.
Reid told officers after his arrest that he ‘went too far’
after they began kissing.
The schoolgirl flagged down a passing car and police were called
on her arrival home.
Reid was arrested in the early hours of the following morning
in the abandoned car.
He has been in custody since his arrest.
The teenager admitted indecently assaulting her on June
9 this year.
He denied rape and attempted rape charges, which were not
proceeded with.
Judge Neil Denison QC remanded Reid in custody for pre-sentence
reports to be prepared.
