A jobless musician is due to stand trial in February for the murder TV golden girl Jill Dando.

Barry George, 40, appeared at the Old Bailey for the first time today (FRI) for a trial date to be set.

Dressed in dark trousers and a blue fleece, George – also known as Barry Bulsara – spoke only to confirm his name.

Former Crimewatch UK presenter Miss Dando, 37, was gunned down on her doorstep in Gowan Avenue, Fulham, as she returned from a shopping trip on April 26 last year in a crime that shocked Britain.

George, of Crookham Road, Fulham, is now due to face trial on February 26 next year.

He may appear back at the Old Bailey next month for a further directions hearing.

His mother lives in Hammersmith, west London, and his father Alfred lives Treharris, near Merthyr Tydfil, south Wales.
