The court heard a text message was sent to Aiden Hulme the day after the Ealing bombing where the characters were made to show four sticks of lit dynamite.
Underneath was written: ‘Up the Provos.
‘
Three minutes later he was sent another message which stated: ‘What were you at last night?
‘Whoever sent the text messages appears to be inquiring whether Aiden was involved in the bombing the night before,’ Mr Pownall said.
‘Aiden was clearly associated with the people who were responsible.
‘
He added: ‘These messages cannot simply be dismissed as lighthearted banter from one individual to another.
‘The sender of the text message clearly believed that he was involved and the message provides compelling evidence he was.
‘
The court heard the Erikson phone was found in the boot of Robert Hulme’s car but was used by Aiden.
The trial continues.
