Alleged fraudster ‘cheated Grenfell disaster fund out of more than £80,000’

An alleged fraudster who received more than £80,000 by claiming to be a victim of the Grenfell Tower appeared in court today (mon) ahead of his trial later this month. Sharife Elwhabe, 37, allegedly pocketed £72,586.20 in hotel fees and spent £10,730 on a pre-paid card given out by Kensington and Chelsea Council to victims of the inferno. The fraud is said to have taken place after the night of the fire that claimed 72 lives on 14 June 2017….
