Accused double killer lived with his mother
A serial predator accused of murdering two sex workers and attacking another was arrested in the home he shares with his mother wearing a Marvel Comics jumper, a court heard.
Simon Levy, 40, killed Carmenza Valencia Trujillo, 53, whose body was found in the stairwell of a derelict building on the Wendover estate in Peckham, southeast London, on 17 March 2025, it is claimed.
Five months later, Sheryl Wilkins, 39, was murdered and her body left in a car park near a B&M store in Tottenham High Road on 24 August 2025.
Jurors have heard that Levy was convicted of two sexual assaults in 2021 and a further 11 offences between April 2022 and May 2025.
Six of those most recent offences occurred in the first five months of 2025 — the same period in which he is alleged to have murdered the two women and attacked a third sex worker.
Levy, who is blind in one eye, denies two counts of murder, grievous bodily harm with intent, non fatal suffocation, and two counts of rape against the sex worker in the car park near his home on 21 January 2025.
Reading a set of agreed facts to the jury, prosecutor Tom Little, KC, said that the victim who survived an attack was taken to hospital on 18 January 2025 where she needed to be given a sling.
No photographs were taken of her injuries on that day, the prosecutor said.
On 3 September 2025 she made a video recorded statement to police, using a map to indicate the location where she was attacked.
Mr Little said that on the night of 17 March 2025 a man, not Levy, found inside the Wendover building where Ms Valencia Trujillo was killed that day, was arrested.
He was arrested on suspicion of murder and a bag containing drug paraphernalia was found on his person.
He was interviewed but released without charge.
Mr Little said that Ms Wilkins had been released from prison on 9 July 2025 before being recalled on 17 July and re-released on 29 July.
Evidence from Moorfields Eye Hospital shows Levy lost his sight in his right eye on 28 May 2024.
Jurors were shown police bodyworn footage of Levy’s first arrest on 1 April 2025.
Levy was inside a dark bedroom with the curtains closed and empty bottles on the shelves.
He was wearing a Marvel Comics jumper featuring images of superheroes including Spiderman and Captain America.
When told he was being arrested on suspicion of murder he said ‘what, that’, adding ‘it could be a case of mistaken identity, I don’t know what’s going on.’
He told police: ‘No this ain’t right, I dunno what happened.’
Levy was again arrested outside his house on 4 September 2025 and replied: ‘What, no nothing like that’, to the caution.
He told police: ‘No there was no murder.’
A download of Levy’s phone showed multiple searches regarding sex positions and a search for ‘what’s it like for a drug addict woman to have sex’.
He also searched ‘my mum told me I should see a prostitute’.
He has also read news articles about male violence against women.
Levy denies murdering both women. He also denies grievous bodily harm with intent, intentional strangulation and two counts of rape.
The trial continues.
