A father videoed himself sexually abusing is young

A father videoed himself sexually abusing is young daughter,
an Old Bailey jury heard today (Monday).

During at least six years of repeated assaults, the girl, now
16, remembers distinctly the video occasion because the father,
jostling to touch her indecently, knocked over a light which fell on
a picture and burnt it, said prosecutor Mr Peter Walsh.

Sometimes the father, now 51, threatened her with a knife and
tied her up.

She was raped in her bed at least once, the court heard.

‘For a number of years the defendant sexually abused his
daughter repeatedly – for as long as she can remember,’ said Mr Walsh.

‘It seems the abuse began when the girl was about eight.

‘It usually happened when she was in bed asleep at night and
the father would wake her up.

The girl lived with her two younger brothers and parents in
Kenton, Middlesex.

For no apparent reason, the father attacked his daughter
less frequently when she was 11, said counsel.

‘She would say “No” when he came into her bedroom and he would
leave,’ said Mr Walsh.

‘But when she turned 14 it happened more than before.

‘One morning when she was 14 she woke up and found her father
on top of her.

‘
She was being raped, said counsel.

‘She feared she had become pregnant but fortunately that was
not the case.

The father was arrested in November, 1991, and denied the
allegations to police.

The father, an assembler, denies rape and three specimen charges
of indecent assault between January, 1984, and early 1990.
