A top psychiatrist whose office was filled with bags of insect-infested rotting food had an affair with a vulnerable patient in his care for three years, the GMC heard today.

Neal Killala, is accused of ‘conducting an improper emotional and sexual relationship’ with the patient, known only as Miss X.
And Killala is said to have hoarded sex toys and hardcore pornography in one of his hospital rooms.
The porn, estimated to have a value of pnd stlg 8,000, featured images of bestiality, the GMC heard.
As well as ‘pornographic magazines, pictures and videos’ Killala is charged with keeping ‘piles of bags containing foodstuffs and rotting food with insect infestation’ at his office at the Roche Unit in Rochford, Essex.
He is also accused of keeping further X-rated items, including a collection of sex aids and porn featuring ‘images of bestiality’ nearby in an overspill room at the unit, for drugs and alcohol dependency.
He is also accused of prescribing ‘excessive doses’ of drugs to three patients, Miss Y, Mr Z, and the late Jason Francis, who had a history of overdosing.
Killala is also charged with failing to respond to complaints about the treatment of Mr Francis from his mother, Mrs Barbara Francis.
Killala, of (19) Canvey Road, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex denies serious professional misconduct consisting of 7 charges between April 1992 and November 1998 while working for Southend Community Care Services NHS Trust.
The hearing is currently sitting in private as the panel considers an application to hear part of the proceedings in secret.
Christina Lambert, representing Killala, said that part of the evidence will be of ‘acute sensitivity’ to patients and third parties and should be heard behind closed doors.
