Carer killed girl after working 440 hours in 28 days

A nursing student who drove on the pavement and killed a 13-year-old girl after working excessive hours at two care homes has been jailed for more than two years. Gardene De Carvalho, 43, was at the wheel of a Fiat 500 when she ploughed into Victoria Carson near the schoolgirl’s home in Longmore Avenue, Barnet, at 9.35pm on June 29 last year.
