Notorious crime boss jailed for bogus shooting confession

A crime boss who persuaded a convicted murderer to wrongly confess to a celebrity nightclub shooting ‘for a bit of fun’ has been jailed. John Henry Sayers, 54, convinced Michael McDougall, 50, he had nothing to lose by admitting the ‘ride-by’ shooting at The Tup Tup Palace nightclub in Newcastle on 6 June 2015. Sayers’ lieutenant Michael Dixon, 50, aimed a single sawn-off shotgun blast at the doorman, Matthew McCauley, who was left with multiple wounds, the Old Bailey heard….
