Former taxman spared jail for snooping on tenants
A former taxman who accessed confidential records to snoop on tenants for nearly 20 years was spared jail today (tues). Timothy Stevenson, 56, used Revenue and Customs’ computer systems to check personal details of potential and former renters between 1996 and 2014. The ‘obsessional’ former HMRC employee of 28 years, who was dismissed for gross misconduct in 2014, kept hand-written notes copied off computer systems in filing cabinets under his stairs.
