Hotel worker’s bizarre foot attack
A hotel worker who assaulted a guest on a super yacht has been jailed for 13 years for attacking four women – as police revealed he may have claimed many more victims.
Egyptian Ahmed Fahmy, 46, preyed on one of the women in her room onboard the unique Sunborn Yacht Hotel in London’s Docklands in March 2022.
Fahmy began his spree when he abused a woman at an address in Wembley, northwest London, in 2008, Harrow Crown Court was told.
Prosecutor Soma Varapu said: ‘He massaged her feet, grabbed her and tried to kiss her.’
Fahmy assaulted a second woman at the four-star Sunborn Yacht Hotel on 31 March 2022
‘While she was intoxicated he entered a room with her and sexually assaulted her,’ said Ms Varapu.
‘He sucked her toe.’
In January last year four young tourists travelled to London and stayed at the Anchor Guest Hotel in Golders Green.
Three of the women made their way back to the hotel in the early hours of 20 January.
When they arrived they realised their friend, who was still out, had the room key.
Fahmy claimed he did not have another key for the room and demanded that one of them withdraw £80 from a nearby cashpoint so she could stay in a different room.
The woman complied and Fahmy let her into a separate room.
She removed her shoes but remained otherwise fully dressed and got into bed.
The woman was awakened by Fahmy licking her foot.
She told to go away but was woken a second time by Fahmy sucking her toes again and he left.
The fourth member of the group arrived back at the hotel later.
When she explained to Fahmy she had lost her room key while out he made her accompany him to his bedroom where he raped her.
The group of tourists moved to another hotel in central London where they contacted police and Fahmy and he was arrested the same day.
Fahmy, of Hampstead, northwest London, denied but was convicted of one count of rape and three of sexual assault, between 2008 and 2024, by a jury at Harrow Crown Court, sitting at Hendon Magistrates’ Court.
He was jailed for 13 years today (weds) as police launched a fresh appeal for any other potential victims to come forward, including women who may have worked with Fahmy at hotels.
Detective Constable James Gomm, who led the investigation, said: ‘Fahmy used manipulation to abuse his position as a hotel worker and get close to his victims. He demonstrated a clear pattern of offending and abuse.’
He warned Fahmy may have claimed many more victims.
He said: ‘Fahmy displayed a clear pattern of offending where he abused his position as a hotel worker to get close to his victims and carry out his crimes.
‘I want to commend all the victim-survivors for the courage they have shown throughout this investigation.
‘I do not underestimate for a moment the impact that reliving what happened will have had on those victim-survivors and I want thank them for supporting this investigation.
‘Your bravery has helped put a sexual offender behind bars and protect other women.
‘There may be other victims of Fahmy and, if so, I would urge them to get in contact with police immediately – you will be listened to and provided with support.’
Fahmy, of West Heath Drive, Hampstead, denied but was convicted of one charge of rape and three of sexual assault.
