A smuggler was caught with live bird’s eggs strapped to his body when he was stopped at Heathrow airport, a court heard. Jeffrey Lendrum, 56, had 19 eggs taped to his chest including those of an African fish eagle, an African sparrow hawk and a vulture. Lendrum, who had flown in from South Africa, explained he was on his way to customs to declare them, Uxbridge Magistrates heard.
