Jail for Romanian thieves who swiped thousands of pounds from tourists

  Two Romanian thieves who posed as plain clothed police officers to swipe more than £4,500 from tourists have been jailed for three years each. Florin Ionita, 31, and Laurentiu Ionita, 47, flashed fake warrant cards and demanded identification from at least 10 sightseers in London’s West End. They used ‘sleight of hand’ to rifle through startled victims’ wallets, taking bank cards and £4,678 in cash. Southwark Crown Court heard the pair were joined by others who would warn tourists…
