Killer admits strangling girlfriend in halls of residence

A mentally ill killer has admitted strangling his girlfriend to death in her halls of residence. Maher Maaroufe, 23, had been in a relationship with City University psychology undergraduate Sabita Thanwani, 19, before the killing in Clerkenwell, central London. Police were called to Arbour House in Sebastian Street on 19 March last year and found Ms Thanwani in her room lying underneath the duvet with serious injuries.
