Male model tortured girlfriend

A male model who cut off a woman’s hair and made her eat it from a dog bowl has been jailed for three years.

Karl Soames, 25, pinned his victim to the ground and threatened to ram a metal pole inside her.

Pleading for her life she submitted to Soames’ depraved demands and ate dog hair as he poured hot water on her head.

The former Asos and Adidas model trapped the woman at his home in Notting Hill, west London on 9 May last year.

He was also featured in a musical spot on Kenyan TV.

Soames cut off her hair and stabbed her with scissors before phoning a relative to brag about what he had done.

He also whipped her with a coat hanger, beat her head with a marble pestle and metal pole, and made her clean up dog faeces.

Soames threatened to have the woman raped and murdered if she tried to escape, Isleworth Crown Court heard.

The next morning he made her wear a headscarf to hide her injuries and ordered her to leave the house to complete an errand.

But the victim fled and police were called.

Misba Majid, prosecuting, said: ‘The defendant and the complainant had an argument over some jewellery and as a result of that the complainant was subjected to a tirade of abuse.

‘On that evening the defendant repeatedly beat her while she was on the floor. He punched her in the back and face. He said he would rape and murder her, and said he would place a large metal pole up her and would have her raped.

‘On that same night the defendant cut her hair and placed it in a dog bowl and watched her as she swallowed the hair. He made her take cold showers and he boiled hot water in a kettle and poured it over her.

‘When he was pouring hot water over her head, she was becoming unconscious but he kicked her to keep her awake. He then hit her over the head with a large pan.’

During a police interview, Soames said his victim was obsessed with him and denied hurting her. He also claimed he had an alibi.

But detectives traced a recording of the call he had made to his brother boasting of the pain he had inflicted on his terrified victim. It was also discovered that his alibi was out of the country when the attack happened.

Judge Giles Curtis-Raleigh told Soames ‘This was a sustained and brutal attack over many hours with the use of weapons and boiling water on a helpless and vulnerable victim.

‘You made constant threats of a chilling nature and degraded her with cutting her hair and making her pick up dog faeces. You boasted about it. It is sadistic and you have shown no remorse whatsoever.’

Soames, of Tavistock Crescent, Notting Hill, admitted grievous bodily harm. He denied false imprisonment and threats to kill and the charges were ordered to lie on file.

Speaking after he was sentenced the woman said: ‘If I hadn’t have been made to run an errand on the Friday morning I honestly don’t think I would have made it out alive.’

Detective Constable Chris Willey, who investigated the case said: ‘Soames’s savage behaviour has been met with a substantial prison term.

‘Unlike Soames, the woman who was attacked has shown remarkable strength of character and dignity throughout the whole investigation. I sincerely hope this ruling brings her a little closure and she can begin to move on with her life.’
